Welcome to Little Learner's Creche in
the Dublin Adult Learning Centre

An Taoiseach Mr Bertie Ahern officially opened Little Learners Crèche on the 11th of June 2001. We provide quality Childcare to children whose parents attend basic adult education classes in the Dublin Adult Learning Centre (DALC); we also have some crèche places for people who are on C.E schemes in other centres in the locality. We currently cater for 36 children on a part time basis.  We operate an open door policy and parents are welcome to visit at any time during the day.

Aims and Goals

Our aim is to provide a safe, caring environment where children can learn through discovery, encouragement and creativity. Our emphasis is on the nurturing of social and emotional development as the basis to holistic development of the child. We see play as essential to childhood. We provide experiences in all developmental areas social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative. We promote interactions between staff and children, which promote the development of self-esteem for the child. We respect individual difference and strive to meet the needs of all children in our care.

The Family After-schools Project in Little Learners Crèche has been running for over 7 years.  In that time it has developed to suit the needs of the children and their families who attend the project, we work closely with parents to ensure that the needs of the children are met.

The Family After-School Project now caters for 15 children and their parents.  The format includes snack time, homework (with help nearby from staff if needed) followed by a family activity. We include both parents and children in the planning of family activities. These activities can include arts and crafts, drama, cookery, and sports in the park, board games or cultural activities.
